Scream
TBA
In development.
Announced and in development at Spyglass Media Group with Paramount. Kevin Williamson confirmed in March 2026 that he is not returning to write or direct: "I think for the next Scream I'll step back and be part of the family again." Nothing about plot, cast or release has been made public. Reports of a 2027 release and of Williamson directing have been superseded by events.
Scream 8 has no release or reception record yet. The confirmed public milestone is the March 31, 2026 report that Spyglass was developing an eighth film with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing. Paramount's March 29 company announcement confirms the immediate context: Scream 7 had passed $200 million worldwide before the new writers were reported.
Later September reporting still described the project as in development, without an attached director or release date. Courteney Cox expressed interest in directing, but an actor's interest is not a studio appointment. Her comment is recorded as an expression of interest and does not change the crew list.
No verified box-office results, ratings, reviews, audience score, festival play, trailer response or awards are available for this unreleased project. Release plans await an announcement from Paramount or Spyglass.
The Zuckerman sisters' screenplay assignment is confirmed. Courteney Cox's interest in directing is a public comment, not a confirmed hire. Online cast lists, plot summaries and release dates without studio confirmation remain speculation.

By the time Scream 7 opened in February 2026, an eighth film was already reported to be in development, and Neve Campbell said she was interested in coming back. After Scream 7's record opening, talks on the next film began in March 2026.
Kevin Williamson, who made his Scream directing debut on Scream 7, said he will not direct the next one. He said it is nice to be part of the Scream family, and that does not mean he always has to be front and center.
On March 31, 2026, Paramount and Spyglass confirmed an eighth film in development with sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing. The news came after Scream 7 passed $200 million worldwide, the first film in the series to do it. The Zuckermans ran the Peacock series Poker Face and wrote for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe and Prodigal Son. They also wrote the Hulu series Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale, which was scrapped.
As of September 2026 no director, cast, plot, budget or release date has been officially announced. Wikipedia lists it as an untitled eighth Scream film.
The film's runtime and budget have not been announced.
No killer identity or motive has been announced.
As of October 3, 2026, no composer, music supervisor, recording plan or soundtrack label had been announced. The film remains in development with no announced theatrical or digital release date and no streaming, 4K, Blu-ray or DVD edition.
Coverage that predicts returning performers, a 2027 release or a specific story is kept out of the factual record until the studio or production confirms it. This is why the entry has no poster or gallery: using fan art or re-labeling Scream 7 imagery would create a false official asset.
