STAB 6 (2008)

We never get a solid plot synopsis for “Stab 6,” but the StabMovies.com timeline places the film in 2008.

In “Scream 4,” we do see one sequence that is supposedly from “Stab 6.” In it, two friends, played by Lucy Hale and Shenae Grimes, are about to watch “Saw IV” when they receive simultaneous phone calls and Facebook messages from Ghostface. Ghostface then appears and murders them, in a scene that immediately reveals there are two killers.

However, I do not think this scene is actually from “Stab 6.” Since it is shown as the opening of “Stab 7,” there is no way audiences would sit through the exact same opening they had already seen in the previous film. Instead, I think the version of “Stab 6” shown in “Scream 4” is actually the in-universe “Stab 6” scene inside “Stab 7.” In other words, we may be watching “Stab 7” showing us “Stab 6,” not the real “Stab 6” itself. The franchise has officially become a haunted mirror maze at this point.

According to StabMovies.com, the film was directed by Max Feinberg, written by Will Kennison, scored by Marco Beltrami, and produced by Don Crosby, Bill Birch, Floyd Malone, and Fred Rifkin. The listed cast includes David Schwimmer as Dewey Riley, Kristen Bell as Chloe, and Roger Jackson as Ghost Face.

The film is based on Gale Weathers’ book “Ghostface Returns,” although the subtitle “Ghostface Returns” was never shown in the “Scream” movies on posters or on screen. It was shown on the side of the prop DVD cases sold to fans, though it was not visible in the movie itself. Because of that, it may not actually be part of the film’s official title.

This entry also marked the first time two Ghostface killers were shown on screen at the same time. The same idea carries over into the StabMovies.com version of “Stab 6.”

There is also a strange continuity issue surrounding Sidney Prescott’s involvement in the later “Stab” sequels. In “Scream 4,” it is stated that Sidney threatened to sue Sunrise Studios if they continued using her story after “Stab 3,” which suggests the Sidney character was no longer used. However, in “Scream” 2022, the killer says that Sidney was in every “Stab” movie except the last one. So, who is right? We do not know, and apparently neither do the writers of the “Scream” movies.

No actual storyline has ever been revealed for “Stab 6,” but here is the StabMovies.com version of the story:

Lock your doors, bolt your windows, and do not answer your phones, because Ghostface returns, and this time, he will leave no survivors.

“Stab 6” brings us back to Woodsboro years after the events of “Stab 3: Hollywood Horror,” where a new Ghostface has set their sights on Dewey Riley, played by David Schwimmer. As the teens of Woodsboro drop like flies, Dewey must race to unmask the killer before a bomb levels the entire town.

With Gale away on vacation with Sidney, it is up to Dewey to solve the case before Woodsboro goes up in flames.
